Dear New Mom,
Breathe in. Breathe out.
Life moves so quickly with a new little one in your life. Sometimes remembering to just breathe is necessary. There will be days you won’t get a shower, and other days when you won’t remember your last shower.
People will tell you not to think about chores—but that’s already so far from your thoughts that the mention of chores actually reminds you of the overwhelming stack of laundry you have and that you should probably at least sweep the floor.
Breathe in. Breathe out.
A new life—your precious baby—is in your home. New life that when you take a minute to think about is a miracle that God let you be a part of. A new life that is completely dependent on you for so many things.
Breathe in. Breathe out.
Maybe you’re covered in spit up and can smell pee diapers. Maybe your hair is in some kind of attempt at a bun. Maybe you just noticed you only have one spare diaper.
Breathe in. Breathe out.
You will get through this time of sleep deprivation and constantly being needed. And, believe it or not, later you’ll look back at this as hard, really HARD. But, also one of the most beautiful times of your life.
Breathe in. Breathe out.
I want to tell you how proud I am of you. That you’re doing a great job, and that you are a great mom. And, even though I may not know you, I know one thing–God chose you for this job.
So in the middle of your chaos—let God hold you. Take a deep breath and look around. Your life is forever changed. You are a Mom.
With love—
K
